This famous musical entertainment sees the First World War from the soldiers’ point of view, using the songs they wrote and sang, the jokes they
told and the camaraderie of the trenches to tell the story of the war that ended 100 years ago. With a cast of 17, a professional musical director and band, and an army of backstage helpers, this
production is supported by Lympstone Entertainments as well as the Players.
Rehearsals have been in full swing since April. The Director, Harland Walshaw, is now moving the production into a final week of intensive run-throughs of the whole show. Pierrot costumes, an assortment of props, and all manner of hats have begun to appear on stage.
The Musical Director, Sandra Jepps, has been with us from the start. Our
Choreographer, Caterina, has introduced the cast to box steps, waltzes and ragtime. The band has appeared for the first time.
