ALADDIN 2021: Feedback

“It was one of the most hilarious, clever, polished performances I’ve seen by an amateur group for years.  The script was a great choice, made so much more relevant by the local quips; the costumes, lighting, sound and set were all stunning. What a dragon!  To produce such a show, amongst all the Covid difficulties is a wonderful achievement.  Congratulations.  I am so glad I’ve moved to Lympstone.  An appreciative member of the audience". (W)“Just wanted to say what a great show you put on this year ! - we were very impressed with the whole cast and look forward to next year!! Well done to all involved.” (S.A)

“Saw this wonderful spectacle this evening. What a truly uplifting experience this was. Well done to all concerned for starting the festive season so beautifully. Absolute happiness.” (F.T-B)

“Well done Sharon and the rest of the team in front and behind the stage. We came to watch Friday night's performance and we thought it was such a great show; you can't beat a live performance. So funny with good acting, loads of energy and enthusiasm. We'll done to you all. “

“I’d just like to take this opportunity to send compliments to The Players for the splendid panto which I attended last Saturday afternoon with my four grandchildren.  The children aged 14, 12, 9 and 5 all enjoyed it immensely as did my daughter in law and myself.  The scenery and costumes were superb as was the acting, well done to all. “ (A.H)

“Cracking performance – you should do a re-run of some sort! Seems such a waste not to!” (R. F.)

It was the best [The Players] have done for a long time - not just because of some outstanding performances but because everyone played with such confidence and conviction. It was a great team performance on stage and backstage.” (C.W.)

Aladdin was an excellent production, and the audience certainly responded to it.” (H.W)

Just to say we are delighted to have back the Lympstone pantomime. (As a former stage manager and props creator)We congratulate you all on a superb performance, so professional, so colourful, technically brilliant and very entertaining. Well done everyone. We can’t wait for the next production if this is to be the standard in the future. GRRRRRRREAT! (J & B.C)

“One of the best pantos I’ve ever seen. You have some real talent there.” (S. K.)

“So brilliant – I had to book another ticket and bring my friend.” (S. W.)

“A traditional panto in a village hall is the perfect start to the Christmas season.  The hall was full and the audience ready to boo and cheer and generally join in.  We had been greeted when we arrived by a friendly Chinese Dragon which had set the mood for the evening.  The energy and pace kept the panto buzzing along.  Lovely confident singing and live musical accompaniment makes such a difference.  Costumes were very well planned with lots of bright colours. The makeup, particularly for Abanazar, was superb.  The set depicting the village was beautifully designed and colourful.  I would imagine the children in the audience found it quite magical. A fabulous introduction to theatre for them.  Lighting and sound were in safe hands and added to the enjoyment and magic of the panto.  Set changes happened behind the curtain and a few feet from where I was sitting but without any discernible sound.  There was a cast of mixed ages including young children.  This helped to give a warm community feel to the production, which is one of the strengths of village panto.

What a wonderful way for a community to come together and feel the fun and love of Christmas.  Thank you, Lympstone Players, for giving us this entertaining evening of laughter” …. "a superb and very entertaining panto.” (Joyce Pomeroy, NODA South West District 5 Rep). For full NODA report go to:

“Your costumes and scenery look absolutely amazing, way above the standards of most village hall pantomimes.  It’s clear from your photos and audience comments you had an outstanding production on your hands!  And I do know the hard work, planning and blood, sweat and tears that go into achieving such high standards in so many different aspects. I’m genuinely impressed, so congratulations to you and all involved!” (Alan Frayn, Aladdin Script Writer)
